Book Review: Forever Too Far by Abbi Glines

This is the final book in the Fallen Too Far trilogy.

I assumed that we’d see more resolution in this third book – e.g. Blaire’s relationship with Nan and Rush’s mum improving – and that Abbi would be focused on on wrapping up any loose ends. Instead she uses this novel to set up her next spin off series (with Grant), while dragging Woods and his 2 spin off books into the novel whenever possible.

What really bothered me though was that Rush promised Blaire she’d always come first (AGAIN), Rush then messed up (AGAIN) and Blaire then ran off (AGAIN), then she forgave him (AGAIN). And Nan was a raging bitch with no redeeming qualities (AGAIN).

The big difference between this book and the first two? There was a wedding. Also Rush was sickeningly sweet and romantic, totally tame. He now seems to have no existence outside of being Blaire’s man, he doesn’t even have a job. (And he had 80% of the narration.)

Why I can forgive AG for all of this: It’s Rush and Blair, come on, how am I not gonna to enjoy this book? There’s baby drama, love drama and family drama: it’s loaded with page turner moments. And it’s a sexy read!

  1. While I enjoyed this series I find too much time is spent dropping hints for future books and storylines. In the Grant books she does the same – setting up for other characters to have a story and not resolving the issues of the book in hand.

  2. I completely agree with your review Annie….
I wanted the big show down with the mum but she seems to have skimmed past this whole series even though she is the sole reason for everyone’s issues!!
I also don’t like how the Woods story was told a lot through this book for I read this book b4 Twisted Perfection so it kinda ruined that book for me!
But I did really like the Grant and Harlow spotlight…I really look forward to that little series…it ,eams more crazy / bitchy Nan!!

      • Yeah it was really disappointing because you know more what happens to Woods and Della in Forever Too Far than Twisted Perfection , so you already know what roughly is going to happen in Simple Perfection before it was already published!
I really wished they informed us to read TP before FTF!! xx

    • Lol! 🙂 Let me know how you find Blair and Rush – this series is a bit like junk food, bad for you (their relationship isn’t the healthiest model out there) but so addictive!

  3. Even though you can forgive the author for some of the things that happened here, I don’t think I’d be able to! So after this review, I really have no desire to read the FALLEN TOO FAR trilogy anymore. It’s like, the first two books are great — amazing, even — but then the last book comes around, and it disappoints you, so I don’t want to be spending money on books I won’t be able to enjoy.

Based on your third paragraph, it sounds like FOREVER TOO FAR has way too much unnecessary drama. That and me = enemies forever. And also, I hate repetition because it makes no sense why the author does that. But I’m glad that there were still some redeeming qualities that helped you like the book more. 🙂

    • There is a lot of drama (and repetition) in this series, but although the last book is full of ‘filler’ (without any real substance or purpose) it’s quite entertaining. Final verdict: It didn’t exactly ‘disappoint’ me, but it didn’t wow me either, I’d give it 4 stars out of 5.
